Childhood
On October 17, 1971, Christopher Alan Kirkpatrick was born in Clarion, Pennsylvania. In addition to his Native American, Scottish, and Irish ancestors, his family tree also includes Spanish and Portuguese. In Dalton, Ohio, he first attended Dalton High School before moving to Rollins College, which is located in Orlando, Florida. During his time in Florida, he worked as a busboy at an Outback Steakhouse and performed at Universal Studios with the Doo-Wop group The Hollywood Hi-Tones.
Career:
Kirkpatrick met American music producer and boyband originator Lou Pearlman in 1995 through a mutual acquaintance.
When Pearlman joined the Backstreet Boys, he was an integral part of the group’s success. Kirkpatrick’s plan to launch a new boy band piqued Pearlman’s interest.
When Pearlman offered to sponsor the ensemble provided Kirkpatrick could bring in additional young, talented male singers, Kirkpatrick chose to accept the offer.’ Because of this, the foundation for NSYNC was laid.
The first time Pearlman saw Justin Timberlake on “The Mickey Mouse Club” was when he was scrolling through videos he already owned and started to notice him. J.C. Chasez was recommended to Kirkpatrick by Timberlake, who had known him for a long time.
Five members were finally chosen for NSYNC: Kirkpatrick and Timberlake were the first, with Lance Bass and Joey Fatone rounding out the group.
NSYNC was active between 1995 and 2002. More than 50 million recordings were sold globally as a result of Kirkpatrick and the group’s efforts. “No Strings Attached,” the group’s second album, was a great hit, selling 2.4 million copies in its first week of release. Until Adele’s record-breaking album “25” dethroned them in 2015, they had held the record for the most albums sold in the first week of their release. Most people recall Kirkpatrick’s countertenor voice.
After NSYNC dissolved in 2002, Kirkpatrick remained out of the public eye for five years until he featured on the television show “Mission Man Band” in 2007. Ex-boyband members who had been prominent in the 1990s were featured on a reality programme that aired on VH1 for one season in 2007.
There are also a number of former boyband members on the programme, including Color Me Badd’s Bryan Abrams, 98 Degrees’ Jeff Timmons, and LFO’s Rich Cronin.
As part of the presentation, the four boys established a band called Sure Shot, which recorded an original song and performed at several public events.
